Abstract

Globally, mental health has become a major public health issue that affects people of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds. The incidence of mental health issues has increased due to a number of factors, including rapid urbanization, technological improvements, shifting lifestyles, social isolation, economic uncertainty, and mounting expectations from the workplace and academia. Among the most common mental health issues that contemporary society faces are stress, depression, and suicidal thoughts and actions. Physical health, interpersonal connections, productivity, and general quality of life are all negatively impacted by these diseases. Effective prevention and treatment are still hampered by stigma, ignorance, and limited access to mental health treatments, despite significant breakthroughs in mental healthcare. The epidemiology, risk factors, outcomes, and preventative measures associated with stress, depression, and suicide are examined in this review. The assessment also emphasizes the role that families, communities, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and legislators play in fostering mental health and averting mental health emergencies. Improving community-based interventions, early detection, counseling services, and mental health literacy can greatly enhance mental health outcomes and lower suicide-related mortality.
